The tunnels the animals make can be as long as 3.5 m in length and with one or more well-concealed entrances. The animals usually feed on a variety of seed, fruit, and nuts and they are also fond of corn and sunflower seeds.

These creatures inhabit Canada's eastern forests and fence rows that are a favorite of young and old alike. They live under the earth and have a majority of tunnels that they make and there are many different “rooms” on these tunnels that are: storage tunnels, the main chamber and the sleeping quarters.
