Baby Chipmunks



Baby Chipmunks can make good pets for almost any family. It’s an excellent way out for those who cannot keep a dog or a cat, but want to own an interesting pet. Though typically wild animals, captive bred Chipmunks become rewarding companions and form close bonds with their owners. Never obtain a baby Chipmunk from the wild.

The Chipmunks are inquisitive and very active animals. They like to race about the house, climb, and investigate everything new. A friendly and tame Chipmunk should have an opportunity to run freely around the house. Make sure that the house is safe for a little creature. These creatures are not happy when left alone, unlike some other small pets. They like communicating with their owners and playing active games. It’s very interesting to watch baby Chipmunks grow. Much human contact is very important for a baby Chipmunk. If a Chipmunk was not given enough attention in the young age, it will not become a tame and loving pet, even if it was bred in captivity from tamed parents.

You can buy more than one baby Chipmunks, if you cannot devote much time to your pets. In this case, the animals should have enough room for privacy when they want to stay alone. Anyway, you have to take care about the suitable housing for your Chipmunks. These active creatures need much space and lots of toys to entertain themselves. The best home for a Chipmunk is a large run or enclosure placed in the yard and well-fenced. The fencing should sink down into the ground to prevent digging. Chipmunks should have logs for gnawing and boxes for privacy. The standard diet for Chipmunks consists of seeds and nuts. You can give them vegetables and fruits as a treat. Don’t feed your Chipmunk every day, but withhold food for it to dig it up. It encourages a Chipmunks’ natural behavior and gives the little creature necessary exercise.

Regular vet check ups is a must for baby Chipmunks and adult animals. To help in emergency, the vet should be specialized in rodents. Find it out in advance before you bring your first baby Chipmunks home.
